Introduction to tapestry weaving - a taster day
Two dates available:
Saturday 3rd October & Sunday 1st November 2026
Spaces are limited to six people per session.
Tapestry weaving is a centuries-old practice in which threads are woven back and forth across a warp to gradually build images, shapes and areas of colour.
This one-day taster workshop introduces the basic techniques of tapestry weaving and gives you the chance to start weaving for yourself.
Working on a ready-warped simple frame loom, you will learn:
- The principles of warping up a frame loom.
- How to finish setting up your loom ready to weave.
- How to secure your weft yarn and start weaving.
- How to weave with one colour.
- How to weave with two colours to create lines and shapes.
At the end of the day, you can take your frame loom home with you.
Level of experience: No experience needed.
Number of places: six people per session.
Cost: £95 for the day. This includes a frame loom to take home, all yarns and the use of all other weaving equipment during the taster session.
